Association chairman Mohamed Lamine Touré travelled to Guinea from May to September 2021 to prepare potential development cooperation projects, build networks and coordinate with organisations in Guinea. Despite restrictions caused by the pandemic, numerous new contacts were made and needs were identified.
A highlight was Mr Touré’s reception by German Ambassador Meier-Tesch at the German Embassy in Conakry. They discussed the current challenges in Guinea and the organisation’s plans. The ambassador offered his assistance and the embassy’s support.
Further meetings took place at the National Agency for Sanitation and Health Protection with Director General Hadja Marie Touré, who expressed strong interest in joint projects for the sanitation of Conakry.
On 5 September 2021, military units staged a coup against the government. President Alpha Condé was removed from office and Colonel Mamady Doumbouya took power. Our organisation does not assess the military coup. According to the military regime, it was directed against corruption and abuse of power in state institutions.
